Grim news once hovered over my head
For a second my life just stood still
Is my life hanging by a flimsy thread
Or is this news going to strengthen my will?

Cancer had invaded out of the midst
Never knew it could happen to me
The impassable feeling no longer exists
As this enemy conquered my pith

An ongoing battle I can foresee
As my body took charge in defense
And my mind grudgingly takes lead
Like the captain in charge of his men

Minutes like hours, hours like days
As if eternity captured my loss
My mind still lingers although in a faze
To the loved ones who believe in me most

Days of fatigue with nausea and pain
Leaves me thirsting for more of God’s love
I know that as long as I hold on to Him
One defense is all I need from above

In a dreamless state, I feel empowered again
As my Savior eradicates my fears
My burdens I cast to Him over again
While the blanket of peace holds me near
